Artist Statement

Christine Bingham

Christine Bingham is a visual artist originally from Kent, WA. Her passion for strong narratives and complex personalities has drawn her towards a longstanding interest in portraiture, though her overall practice is defined by the act of storytelling itself, whether expressed through writing, illustration, relational art, or mixed media collage.

Christine’s experiences traveling and living abroad have also strongly influenced her art, both through her experimentation with materials and media, and through the stories she integrates into her pieces. This diversity of art production coheres around Christine’s central motivation to express and champion the idea of art as action, with positive impacts on both maker (e.g. art therapy) and receiver (e.g. community engagement).
